REMINDER TO CONCOURS JUDGES
- Judges are to clearly write their name on the score sheets.
- Judges (head judge or individual judges) introduce themselves to each contestant.
- Deductions are to be taken to the tenth (0.2 etc.) of a point.
- Show only deductions, not score earned (show 0.2 not 39.8).
- Comments should be made for ALL deductions.
- When judging cabs/roadsters/speedsters, top and windows, must be up and side curtains are to be in place.
- Boxster engine panels MUST be removed if the engine compartment is to be judged. Failure to remove the panel results in “0” points for the Engine area.
- Be consistent in deductions. Don’t blow anybody away. If a car is obviously not prepared/competitive, make deductions according to the place it should finish in the class.
- Judges are to remain 15 minutes after score sheets are given to participants for the protest period.
- Before the start of judging, each team should locate the cars in their division and decide the order in which they will be judged.
- Judges should be helpful and encouraging to contestants and always thank them when they have finished judging. Make an effort to write/say a positive comment to each participant.
- Judges are free to make brief comments to contestants after the judging period, but do not delay the overall judging process.
- Use the Score Summary Sheet to maintain scoring accuracy. It is beneficial for the judging team to meet after evaluating the first car to review the score spread and ensure consistency.
- Zone 9 judging is based upon CLEANLINESS and MAINTENANCE, not originality.
- Judging teams are to remain intact to judge an entire division.
- No judge is to have any conflict of interest in the division being judged.

- Deductions of 0.6 should be rare. These vehicle need to be scored relative to the field only.
- Excessive wear and tear deductions

- Is the cost /benefit of such repair reasonable?
- What does the owner think? Ask them?
- Reasonable wear and tear is OK, but if it looks bad, then it is bad = deduct
Timing
- 1 minute - Introduce yourself and walk around the car for an overall evaluation
- 5 minutes - Judge the area for which you are responsible
- 2 minutes - Explain the point deductions and make suggestions for improvement
